Busywork

Please excuse my absence. The past couple of weeks have been extremely hectic within the Teel-Erlinger household.

Last weekend, Curt and Lauren finally tied the knot in Springfield. Fortunately, and thanks to Mom and Dad's coincidental trip out to Mt. Vernon for Sabra's birthday, I was able to leave on Thursday afternoon--a day early--in order to attend the bachelor party. As luck would have it, Lisa and Audrey were able to hitch a ride out with Mom and Dad the following morning. So Friday, I dragged my sorry arse out of bed in order to make the forty minute drive out to Matt's house in Mt. Vernon, in order to meet up with Lisa and Audrey. I hadn't been out to Matt's house in a few years and I wasn't entirely sure how to find it. But, since I didn't feel like calling and asking for directions, I decided that, once I arrive in Mt. Vernon, I would simply drive around the tiny town until I see Matt sitting out on his front porch. How could I miss it? Afterall, Mt. Vernon is only three-square miles, and the odds of Matt sitting out on the porch are always good. Sure enough, I drove for about two minutes until I came up on Matt waving at me from the comfort of his front porch. He looked like Andy Griffith.

After a whirlwind tour of Abby and Sabra's, and then Li'l David's, "new" bedrooms, Mom and Dad arrived with Lisa and Audrey in-tow. We were off toward Springfield. The wedding was nice, and we arrived home on Sunday afternoon, exhausted.

The next day, Audrey started at her new daycare at St. Joseph's Early Childhood Education Center. For the past several months, we've been telling Audrey that she would be starting "school" in the fall. By the time that particular Monday rolled around, we were as excited as she was. Monday was also the day I went back to work. The week was filled with meetings and training sessions. Today--Friday--was the students' first day back at school. Fortunately, it went well. Much better than last year at this time, when I had no repoire with the students. This time, since they all knew me, it was much easier.

I've also been hard-at-work on the first issue of my comic book, The Colorblind Art Teacher. It's finished, as a matter of fact. But my laptop was upgraded to Leopard this week and, as a result, I need to have Adobe Creative Suite reinstalled. All that's left to be done is the printing but, of course, I can't access the files without having the Photoshop program in which they were created. Hopefully, I can make the installation happen by next week. In the meantime, I feel like I have my hands tied.
